A teacher not just teaches, but inspires the most.
This quote I believe to be true till eternity. Every teacher I came across in my life, inspired me to become what I am now. But today I am sharing my thoughts on that teacher who inspired me and invoked that aspiration required to become like him.
In an age where everything including education is nothing without money, there comes my teacher who selflessly initiated many programmes, and activities which are giving us LIFE right now.
This blog post today is nowhere near expressing my gratitude to him, but for my readers, I have to introduce this personality who I am aspiring to become one or the other day in life or at least one day in my life.
He is Mr. Sajan, an Assistant professor at my college. I knew him beforehand because he was my senior too. In his student era, I thought him to be the one who was always busy learning something and was least bothered by whatever his surroundings were. But to my surprise, he came as a professor.
My first encounter with him as I remember was my case presentation. I always prepare in and out of my case whenever I have to present no matter who I am presenting to. And this sir was my examiner that day. I was very confident and one question from him which I did not even think would be asked was shot and it shattered everything I built up for my presentation and that was the only time I was irked by his presence.
Then I experienced his potential and capabilities in the upcoming days of the course. Now I am writing this blog to that teacher of mine who stood out from all the teachers who taught me. I will tell you why. See the title! Yes, he handed over to me three aspects that will help me survive and live.
Surviving and living have a skinny line in between. They might seem the same but they are not. And today I will be sharing those three things given by my teacher with you readers.
Thinking outside the box
It is humorously true that he finds a new question for every answer you give him. I guess this nature of him is making him updated on all the knowledge he has. Personally, Sajan sir equals creativity and creativity equals Sajan sir. I am truly unaware of his extracurricular creativity but definitely, his creativity is full of spark when coming to hypothesis generation. You go with one research idea, he sends you back with the more advanced version of the same idea to ponder on. To be honest, he is a maestro in that case. This is the most important quality I wish I imbibe from him.
Doing impossible things possible
I wonder if he has a word called IMPOSSIBLE in his dictionary of life. Because I have never heard him say the word, Cannot, he might ask us students to try it out once but never says no before trying. This quality goes to my bucket list now.
Communication skill
Sajan sir possesses a remarkable gift, one that cuts through the cumbersome layers of unfamiliarity and formality with a swift conversational ease. Imagine being in the midst of a critical practical examination—a scenario that often leaves many grappling with nerves—yet here he was, engaging with an external examiner as though they were old colleagues sharing a casual chat over tea.
This incredible ability to communicate is not merely about words exchanged; it’s about the immediate bond he forges, the comfort he instills in others almost instantaneously. Some minutes prior, Sajan sir and the examiner were strangers, each existing merely as a name on a sheet or a title before a job description. Yet, in what seemed like a mere flicker of time, he had transformed this initial meeting into something beyond mere acquaintance.
The way he navigated the conversation, weaving through it with such finesse and purpose, was akin to watching a seasoned artist. Indeed, the art of conversation is not a skill one can easily develop—it is often said to be inherent, a talent embedded in one’s very essence. And Sajan sir clearly demonstrates this to be true. He can effortlessly extract topics of shared interest, sprinkle humor at precisely the right moments, and display an empathetic understanding that resonates with his interlocutor.
His communication prowess did more than just impress—it served a functional purpose, ensuring his work was done, objectives met, and mutual respect established. If ever there was a testament to the power of effective communication, it was personified in Sajan sir’s interaction with that examiner. He undeniably proves that the art of conversation is as much about listening and understanding as it is about speaking, a balance that he has mastered to a remarkable degree.
One more thing, that I would like to share (consider it to be bonus, my readers) his sense of discipline, his love towards his work, sense of respect to his colleagues and his hopes and dreams for his students.
What can i describe him as? when he holds the title for all the following adjectives below: Disciplined, futuristic, optimistic, capable, dreamer and doer. I wonder what was he not??
It still pains my heart to say that my sir is resigning. He had been there for just a year, still he made an irreplaceable place in my and my classmates life. He is truly an epitome of change. I miss his words of guidance, “no problem, we can do”. It still resonates on my ears when Iam writing this. I do miss his guidance and mentorship but i will try my level extreme to walk on those pavements he built for us.
If at all he is reading this, THANK YOU SIR
